Myself and my partner are considering a child for the first time, and like most 1st timers we slightly unnerved by the offhand comments from seasoned veternas such as "no time left for yourself!", "forget about romance!" (or sometimes more direclty "forget about sex altogether!!!)") and other things that make chilkdcare sound more like a Thai prison camp than the Cosmo channel midday movie that it should be
Surely there are developments in technologiy and product that can ease the strain for new (& potential new) parents?

Parenting doesn't have to mean the end to "life as we knew it". We brought our newborn everywhere we went - restaurants, parks, even the movies (when we knew she would be asleep). All kinds of carriers (Ergo carrier), strollers (Mountain Buggy, phil&teds) and other devices let you get out and about with ease. As for the sex, well, it is not quite as seamless - you just need to be flexible enough to take advantage of those "opportune" moments.
